today...

So I had an appointment with the doctor today.  It was supposed to be my yearly.  I made a list.   I've had headaches, tired, low energy, horrible appetite, stomach problems, and a bunch of other embarrassing issues, including the haunting 10 pounds.    Before labor day I stepped on the scale and was 275 pounds. 10 pounds down from my plateau weight I have been trying to get over for almost a year.  This morning, I stepped on the scale and lo and behold!  285 pounds.  What. The. Hell?
So I had to do the boob thing, and the heart thing and the look down my throat thing.  He admired my intact tonsils and proceeded to do the neck feely thing that I secretly love.  I really don't care who does the neck feely thing, it just feels awesome.  Anyway, he lingered at the level of my thyroid and made a comment that it was quite prominent today.  A TSH was ordered with my regular labs.  Now I wait.  I'm sure it is just a side effect from my surgery.  I guess rapid weight loss can be very stressful on a body, although, when I told my mom about the thyroid thing she mentioned her mom had a goiter and had hers removed.  Rut roh.  On the other hand, if this easy bruising, fatigue, soreness, all around feeling like a truck hit me on flu day all the time can be fixed with a little hormone, I'm all for it.  He said this also can explain the damned 10-pound juggle issue I have suffered so long.

My pee said I'm not pregnant.  I said, "Well duh! unless immaculate conception is in style this season..."
He said, "It is!!!  And YOUR uterus is still wearing white shoes after Labor Day!"
Touché Dr. S...Touché...

  1. OMG - if it IS your thyroid -- those little synthetic thyroid pills are AMAZING. I felt renewed and like superwoman when thye put me on them, and couldn't believe I'd even been *functioning* at all before.....
