The weekend in review

My baby dove that was born at the end of June is now a full grown teenager.  It's time to take him to the pet store.  He has been spending a lot of time on my windowsill in my office because his father has been especially hard on him since the new babies hatched this last week.  I guess he has been kicked out of the family circle.  So, he is hanging out on my windowsill with me until I can get him to town.  He is so cute and trying so hard to sing.  All he can manage is a faint little "hoot" and squeak.  If any of my Madison and Menominee Falls/southern Wisconsin friends want a dove, I would be happy to set one aside for you and bring them down during one of my adventure weekends.  I was thinking about one the 13th of September and another around Halloween.

Thursday I go in to see the plastic surgeon for a consult.  I can't believe it.  I can't believe I finally made it.  I really hope I can get all this skin taken off without any drama and I can finally experience life as a regular person.  This will be my first time in my whole life being my ideal weight.  I never thought I would ever be under 200 pounds.  In a way its still kind of a dream.  I look in the mirror and I still see me with the hanging parts and flabby parts.  All if it residual from the 500 pounds I was.  I expected different I guess.  I can only hope they will approve my surgery and take all the extra off so I can see me for real.  I'm a little excited to get acquainted :)

My aunt Linda sent me a gift in the mail for losing 300 pounds.  It was a candle and inside the candle was a ring.  The ring could be worth 10, 100, 500, or $1000, so it was a surprise.  I only had to burn my candle for an hour before I saw my ring.  Its so pretty. A bit square ruby set in a silver twisted band with little diamond chips around the ruby.  I think its awesome.  Most fun candle ever.  I may get these for everyone for Christmas.

Yesterday, I planted mushrooms.  Laima and I had both purchased mushroom plugs from a website called fungiperfecti.  To use them, you drill a hole into a log and stick these little dowel-looking "plugs" into the hole. Sadly, My husband did not cut me any oak logs like I have been asking for months.  Our chainsaw is extremely big and heavy and I am unable to hold it up myself to even start the thing, so I really was quite dependent on his help.  Yesterday I looked at my plugs and saw they were getting "fuzzy" and so I took it upon myself to just plant them.  There was a very large standing dead oak tree behind my house that I put a lot of the plugs into, I tried some live trees, and some stumps, some pine and maple as well as oak.  I still have about 100 plugs to go.  I may take them to my mom's house and see if we can get them going over there.  I hope they work.
