laziness

Facebook is too easy.  I enjoy it, but its far too easy to not update my own blog when a snippet of information every 30 minutes is enough.

So, summer is half over and what do I have to show for it?  Since I hadn't updated since May, you would think there would be lots to say.  Let's see...

I got all those flower beds dug up and planted with all kinds of fun stuff.  I have peas growing in with some petunias and I have some string beans coexisting with some pansies.  I have a big pot filled with herbs that I have cut off and am almost ready to harvest again, 3 spaghetti squash creeping here and there, tomatoes, peppers, and hot peppers in various pots...lots of pretties.

The backyard is still not done.  I'm starting to think its a project that won't be thought about again until next spring.  We are in the process of having a new furnace put in within the next two weeks and we had to pay to have the gas people come out and bury line and put regulators on the house and garage.  That cost enough money that everything else needs to be put off.  On the bright side, in 2 weeks I'll have a new furnace.  No more oil, no more burning wood, no more messes, no more coming home to a cold house, no more tinkering with that old nasty oil burner.  I'm pretty excited that for the price of filling up my LP tank, I can be warm all winter as opposed to spending the same money every month in oil last year.  Wooo.  We brought the central air that we had bought for the farmhouse too, so that will go in as soon as the furnace guys are done.  Hopefully, it's before the snow falls ;)

Before winter hits, the only other thing I absolutely want to get fixed is the back porch roof.  I wonder how much rubber roofing is?

~I have been thinking about getting Luke into Karate.
~We got a new dog, Chihuahua/mini Weiner dog mix.  She is super smart, stubborn and likes to turd all over the house as opposed to turding outside.
~I walk with my 70-year-old neighbor on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  she leaves in September and lives in Arizona for the winter.  We have become good friends.  Her husband stops every day to visit with Curt and Rosie and I have coffee on occasion.  She loves dogs and reads the Dragonlance Chronicles.  Both her and her hubby are scifi buffs.  Love them.
~My other neighbor will mow her grass, rain or shine every Friday.  I mow mine when I damned well feel like it.  She seems to accept it though.  My yard is pretty enough that its only a little embarrassing and she still will let me sit out on her patio with her and sip coffee.   She has been a big help in advising me on how to keep my flowers alive all summer.  Even my window boxes look nice. YAY!
~I had a deer come out, jump on the roof of my garage and walk out onto the peak.
~Emma is working on potty training.  it's going okay.
~I made some elderflower cordial.  should try to get that canned up before too long.
~I spent the 4th of July with my cousins that I have not seen for almost 20 years.  It was super fun and the cousin that was hosting, hired a pyrotechnic crew to come out and put on a firework show.  Too awesome.
~Luke has a friend over and they have been working on making a zombie movie with Luke's ipod that only records about 10 minutes at a time.
~ Tomorrow I hang out with Heidi.
There, caught up.  now I'm gonna go to my moms where its cool.
